General

Q. What is KARTSALE, and why should I use it?
A. KARTSALE is the best and most trusted online marketplace where karters can connect to buy and sell karting equipment. At its core, KARTSALE is a specialized classified site, targeted directly at the karting industry. If you have equipment to sell, or are looking to buy a specific part, you've come to the right place.

Q. I found a bug, how do I report it?
A. First of all, our apologies, we work very hard to provide a positive experience for all of our site visitors. But we acknowledge there are times when things just don't work the way you expect. If you find a bug, or something not working properly on our site, please contact us to let us know. We appreciate you taking the time to report the bug and keep our site error free.

Q. I have an idea for a great new feature, how do I suggest it?
A. We take great pride in providing a service that we believe fills a need and is useful for our site visitors. We are continuously working on improving the site and adding new features when it makes sense. However, we don't pretend to have all the answers and are open to any ideas you might have on how to improve the KARTSALE service. Please use the contact form to send us feature requests.

Registration

Q. Do I have to sign-up for an account to use the site?
A. No. You can browse all available listing on the site without registering for an account. However, registration is required if you want to post a listing of your own.

Q. How do I sign-up for an account?
A. Just click on the "Register" link at the top right of any page on the KARTSALE site, and submit the information on the subsequent page. An email will be sent to the address with which you registered to confirm you actually own and control that address. Just click the link in that email to complete the registration process (or copy/paste the URL into your web browser). If you do not receive this email, but sure to check your spam/junk mail folder, as these messages sometimes end up there.

Q. Does it cost anything to register on KARTSALE?
A. No, use of the KARTSALE site is available for FREE to all site visitors. Note that registration is required to access certain features of the site, but registration is also FREE!

Q. I never received a verification email, where is it?
A. Don't worry, this happens more often than we'd like to admit. Sometimes the account verification email gets trapped by your spam/junk mail folders. If you cannot locate the verification email, check your spam folder, and also make sure your mail client does not automatically delete spam/junk messages otherwise you'll never be able to verify your account. Note you will not be able to sign in to your account until you verify your email address by clicking the link in the verification email.

Q. Can I have the verification email resent to me?
A. Yes, if you are unable to locate the verification email, you can have it resent to you. We have set-up a special page on the site to have the verification email regenerated and sent to you.

Add a Listing

Q. What kind of listings can I add to KARTSALE?
A. If it's karting related, it's fair game to list on KARTSALE. However, please ensure that all listings posted to the site comply with the KARTSALE Listing Policy.

Q. How long will my listing remain on the site?
A. Listing are currently set to automatically expire 30 days after they are posted to the site. We do this as a way to keep the site as up-to-date and free from stale listings as possible. Once an ad has expired, you can reactivate it for another 30 day period. You can do this from the "My Listings" page on the site.

Q. How much does it cost to post a listing?
A. Nothing! That's right, users can post an unlimited number of listings to the site for FREE! Assuming, of course, that all of the listing adhere to our Listing Policy.

Q. Should I include a photo when I post a listing?
A. Yes, a photo adds credibility to a listing and will grab the attention of potential buyers. Not to mention that buyers often like to see what it is they are buying. When posting a photo, be sure to use photos that are of good quality, that do not exceed the maximum height or width of 800 pixels, and are smaller than 500 KB in file size.

Q. What happens if my item is sold?
A. This is great news! If you sold an item as a result of listing it on KARTSALE, then we have done our job. But once an items sells, YOUR job is not done. In the interest of keeping the site as up-to-date and free from stale listings as possible, we ask that you go to the "My Listings" page of the site and deactivate the listing. We appreciate this, and so will you, as you will no longer be inundated with emails from frustrated buyers who stumbled across your listing thinking it was still available.

Q. Why was my listing removed from the site?
A. There are many reasons that a listing may be removed from the site. The most common of which is because the ad has expired. If your listing has been removed, please check our Listing Policy to ensure that your ad is not in violation. If you believe your ad has been removed in error, please contact us, and we will work through the issue with you.

Q. What is the Listing Policy, and why is it important?
A. At KARTSALE, we maintain a Listing Policy to help keep the site safe and easy to use. Please read the policy to ensure that all of the listings you post are in compliance. We reserve the right to remove any listings we deem to be in violation of the Listing Policy.

Searching for, and buying, items for sale

Q. How do I search for a specific item?
A. KARTSALE offers users two ways to discover items in which they might be interested. The easiest thing to do is use the search box that appears at the top of the page and enter an appropriate keyword. Alternatively, you can use browse the category tree using the "For Sale" or "Wanted" navigation items at the top of the page.

Q. How do I contact the poster of the listing?
A. If you find a listing in which you are interested, you can contact the poster using the contact form that appears below the listing detail. Submitting the form will send an email to the poster with your information. Note, the form gives you the option to share your email address with the poster (or not), and send a copy of the message to yourself.

Q. Why isn't the poster responding to my messages?
A. There are a number of reasons why a poster doesn't respond to your messages. Among the most common are:
     - The item has been sold, but the listing has not yet been removed from the site
     - The seller may be a scammer, and is trying to get you to contact them with your real email address. Be cautious when dealing with people you don't know. Visit our Safety / Fraud page for more information on how to safely use online classified sites.

Q. Can I contact posters anonymously?
A. Yes, the contact form below each listing on the site allows you to contact the poster without revealing any of your contact information before you are ready to do so. When using the contact form, pay close attention to the "Share my email address with the recipient" checkbox.

Q. Am I buying anything from KARTSALE?
A. No, KARTSALE is an online marketplace whose sole purpose is to connect buyers and sellers. All transactions and the details of those transactions are carried out between the buyer and seller. KARTSALE does not get involved in any part of that process.

Q. What do I do if I believe I've been victimized by a scam?
A. Please let us know immediately by emailing support@kartsale.com, and also contact your local police department. Visit our Safety / Fraud page for more information on how to safely use online classified sites.

Q. I think an item is listed in the wrong category, should I report that?
A. The KARTSALE site relies on its users to automatically select the most appropriate category for their listings. It is possible, however, that listings are assigned to the wrong, or an appropriate, category. You can let us know about any listings you believe to be categorized incorrectly by emailing support@kartsale.com.

Q. I found a listing that seems inappropriate, or illegal, what should I do?
A. If a listing seems inappropriate, or violates the KARTSALE Listing Policy, please report the listing by sending us an email through our contact form.

Account and Listing Management

Q. How do I manage the ads I've previously posted?
A. All of the ads that you have previously posted are available for review via the "My Listings" page of the site. Note that you will need to be logged into the site in order to view your listings. By default, only your active listings are shown on the "My Listings" page. To modify active listings, simply click on the title of the listing, make the appropriate changes, and click the "Save" button.

If you want to view listings that have expired, or been removed from the site, click the "View All Listings" link at the top right portion of the page. Listings that have expired, or manually marked for cancellation can be reactivated on the site. Note that if reactivated, the listing will automatically expire 30 days after the activation date.

Q. Can I edit my listing?
A. Yes, you can modify listings via the "My Listings" page of the site. Note that you will need to be logged into the site in order to view your listings. By default, only your active listings are shown on the "My Listings" page. To modify active listings, simply click on the title of the listing, make the appropriate changes, and click the "Save" button.

Q. Can I remove my listing from the site?
A. Yes, and there are times when we encourage you to do so. For example, if you sell an item you should remove the listing from the site rather than waiting for it to automatically expire. To remove a listing from the site, login to your account, navigate to the "My Listings" page, drill down into the detail for the add in question, and click the "Cancel Listing / Item Sold" button.

Q. Can I renew, or reactivate my listing?
A. Yes, ads that have expired or been flagged for cancellation can be reactivated for display on the site. This is done via the "My Listings" page of the site. When an ad is reactivated, a new expiry date will automatically be set for 30 days from the date of reactivation.

Q. What is the status of my listing?
A. While managing your listings via the "My Listings" page of the site, you will notice that each of your listings has a status. All of the possible values for the status of your listing our outlined below:
     - Active, the listing is currently active and running on the site
     - Expired, the expiry date for the listing has passed and the listing is no longer visible on the site. Note that expired ads can be reactivated.
     - Cancelled, you can disable your listing before the expiry date by canceling the ad. Like expired listings, cancelled listing can be reactivated.
     - Removed, the listing was flagged and removed from the site. This can be done for many reasons, the most common of which is a violation of the Listing Policy.

Q. How do I change my password?
A. You can change your password by logging into the site, visiting the My Profile page on the site, filling in the "Password" and "Confirm Password" fields and clicking the "Save Profile" button. Note that if you've forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking the "Forgot Password" link on the login page of the site.

Q. How do I change the email address associated with my account?
A. If you have signed up for an account, you can sign in and change the email address associated with your account. To do this, login to the site, visit the My Profile page, type the new email address in the "Email" field, and click the "Save Profile" button. Just as we did when you signed up for your account, initially, we will send a verification email to the new email address. Only after you've clicked the link in the verification email will you be able to sign in with the new emaill address.

Q. How do I change the user name / handle associated with my account?
A. You can change the  user name / handle associated with your account by logging into the site, visiting the My Profile page on the site, filling in the "User Name / Handle" field and clicking the "Save Profile" button to commit the change.

Q. Can I deactivate my account completely?
A. Yes. While we would hate to see you go, you can deactivate your account and remove all of your personal information from the site. There is not an automated way to do this via the website, so if this is something you wish to do, please contact us at support@kartsale.com.
